NCAA INFO
NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse
If you are planning to enroll in college as a freshman and participate in Division I or II intercollegiate athletics the Clearinghouse must, with few exceptions, determine eligibility status.
The requirements for eligibility to participate at D - 1 differ from those of D - ll. Those participating at the D lll level are not required to register with the clearinghouse. The guidelines of each D - lll college/university determine playing eligibility.
Students normally should register after completion of their junior in high school and only after an informed judgment has been made as to the prospects potential at the D l or ll level. (Done at this time the student still has his senior year in which to add missing mandatory courses.)
Waivers of requirements are granted to students under a few specific conditions, i.e., home schooled during all grades 9 - 12, approved diagnosed disabilities, objective evidence that demonstrates an overall academic record warrants the waiver of the normal application of the legislation.
Attendance at a secondary school outside the USA for all or portion of the 9 - 12 years requires different evaluation procedures.
Correspondence or independent study classes may not be used to meet the 13 cores course requirements.
Students enrolling in a D l institution may not use courses taken after high school graduation to meet core curriculum requirements except for those players with approved diagnosed disabilities.
