Academics

The Maine Moose are committed to the academic development of our athletes.  The primary objective of the Moose program is to advance our players to the college ranks.  Therefore we place a premium on education as part of the junior hockey experience.   We also believe that a good education is the key to a successful and rewarding life.


In light of the above, Moose players are required to actively participate in educational opportunities.  Players in high school must maintain their education by attending local high schools.  Post grads are required to attend college on a part time basis.   Many players are encouraged to retake their SATs in order to improve their scores and better their college acceptance chances.

The Moose academic coordinator (Team President Steve Levesque) will monitor and assist players in their individual academic pursuits and assist players with College/University applications, transfer applications and SAT/ACT preparation.  Players will be expected to take a very active role in these processes.

There are an abundance of educational opportunities for Moose players in the Central Maine area.  The region boasts a number of excellent high schools depending on the players billet location.  The area also supports a community college, a State University, several private colleges and several national learning centers:
